GRACE OF GIVING Case StatementImmanuel Lutheran Capital Campaign 2011/2012
The Mission of Immanuel Lutheran Church is
to
strengthen our church family through Word and Sacrament,
to reach
out with the saving grace of Jesus Christ,
and to
extend His love and care one to another.
Our mission is clear; our mandate Divine:
proclaim the saving grace of Jesus Christ to one another and to the world.
Having been drawn to the cross, we are sent to the world. We believe the
mission with which we are charged is as urgent today than as it was for our forefathers. We believe that it is God’s calling to prepare
ourselves for the future as our forefathers planned and blessed us.
Why is this worthy of
my sacrifice?
From
time to time, the Lord calls His people to respond to His sacrifice with
sacrifices of our own. In the process we, His children, grow in trust and in
this grace of giving. Each of our goals will
leave us better equipped to carry out the Great Commission in Olivette and
beyond both in the present and in the future. We believe that each of these
reflect good stewardship of God’s resources and the passion He has given us to
share His grace and love with the world around us. We believe this sacrifice is
worthy because we believe the mission of Immanuel given us by God is worthy of
our very best.
What are others doing
about it?
Everyone
is being asked to make their sacrificial gifts a spiritual process.
What do you want from
me?
Everyone
is invited to participate in the journey of discipleship. By definition
sacrificial gifts can be difficult to determine – that’s why they are called
“sacrificial.” Regardless of the amount of your gifts, you are being asked to
commit to a time of prayer and seeking the Lord’s will. At the Commitment
Celebration on November 13th, we will glorify God with our gifts and
with the unity of spirit His Spirit produced through our mutual spiritual journeys.
To that end, we have begun a
capital campaign with the goal of raising $1,250,000. These monies are to be
disbursed as follows:
1)
upgrade of our worship space and atrium, that worship life is enhanced for both
member and guest alike, reflecting the priority we place upon the gifts of God;
2)
repair of the parking lot, to provide a safe and welcoming first impression to
our guests;
3)
funding for air conditioning units, that our space be comfortable for daily
work and ministry;
4)
provision for technology upgrades, that we might better facilitate our
communication of the Word;
5)
elimination of outstanding debt, to free up resources for expanding staff and
plant needs.
