Immanuel Lutheran Church is a congregation of people
gathered around the Word of God. It is the Word which has called us “out of
darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9), and which has built up and
nourished the people of God in this place for over 155 years. That Word was
spoken to us at our baptism and it is repeated in our homes, school and weekly
worship. St. Paul writes, “And you also were included in Christ when you heard
the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation” (Ephesians 1:13). The good
news of God’s grace in Jesus Christ is “the power of God for the salvation of
everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16).
No wonder, then, that on any given day of the week, scores
of us will be found studying the Word of God together. We make no apology for
taking the time to do so, nor for encouraging others to do the same, for by so
doing we “hold out the Word of life” (Philippians 2:16). In an age in which
“there is no time,” we remain committed to the diligent study and application
of God’s timeless truths to our lives. It is our prayer that all who scan the
opportunities for study on this site will find at least one study in which to
participate. For it is our belief that each page of the Bible points to the One
who saves us and is Himself the very Word of God!
